Uvaldo Mora, 28, is accused of exchanging gunfire with the 33-year-old man at Straight Street and Park Avenue around 11:15 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said.

The 33-year-old man was struck in the head and throughout his torso, and died at the hospital.

Meanwhile, Mora was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Certain Persons Not to Possess a Weapon.

Mora was being held in the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing. The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office filed a motion for pre-trial detention which will be heard by a Superior Court Judge at a date and time to be determined by the Court.

Charges include aggravated assault on a corrections officer (2022), reckless driving, speeding across the sidewalk, resisting arrest/eluding (2020), and more.
